Company History

flat2flat removals was started in 2006 as a small operation doing modest courier tasks and moving students between addresses within Glasgow city centre. In fact at this early stage the owner, Peter Bett, traded under the name "quickshift deliveries". The company name changed to "flat2flat removals" in early 2007 along with the purchase of another, much larger van, better suited to the type of customer who were attracted to the new brand.

By 2008 3 more modern mercedes sprinter 'luton' type vans were added bringing the fleet to a total of 4.

In 2009 the company expanded to include removals in Edinburgh. The same online concept as Glasgow was successfully applied and almost overnight flat2flat Edinburgh was up and running!

More recently flat2flat has began experimenting with aspirations to expand to London. Statistically the market there is vast - approximately 15 times that of Glasgow or Edinburgh, but this inevitably comes with far greater competition and a completely different client demographic and day to day practice.

Arguably more important than the expanding fleet was the development of the company website. It was a completetly original concept for a removals site, allowing potential clients to get their removal quote very quickly and easily without having to make any phone calls or send any emails. Although the website was a little cumbersome at first the concept proved very popular. Thanks to lots of positive feedback and also constructive criticism the site has now been refined to be exceptionally user friendly - allowing the customer to get an exact quote for their move and be booked in within 4 - 5 minutes of discovering the website.

Safestore

flat2flat have a close working partnership with Safestore Self Storage in both Glasgow and Edinburgh. The relationship slowly formed as flat2flat visited their 4 sites in Glasgow with increasing frequency during the first year of trading. It became clear that both companies could benefit from a mutual working relationship sharing similar philosophies on customer service.

The Owner

The owner and general manager of the company is Peter Bett. He grew up in Dumfries and Galloway in SW Scotland and moved to Glasgow in 2002 to study Product Design Engineering at Strathclyde University. Rather than pursueing a career in Engineering he saw an opportunity to start an enterprise in the outdated and badly serviced domestic removal sector in Glasgow.

Although now relatively hands off with service, Peter handles all bookings and marketing activities from the flat2flat office on Buckingham Terrace in Glasgow's west end.
